Saints Southwest Devon Under-13s put in a professional performance to record a win in their clash with Juventus Academy Devon Under-13/14s at Teignmouth on Saturday.
Ollie F opened the scoring as early as the fourth minute, with centre-half Mungo P adding a sensational second goal from just inside the opposition half near the end of the first quarter.
Juventus replied with an absolute screamer at the very start of the second period, but goals from Mario D and Freddie C extended the hosts’ lead before half-time.
Jake C and Ollie F both got in on the act in the third quarter, before Jake C got his second and rounded off the scoring with 18 minutes to go.
After the game, Saints Southwest general manager Tom Shwenn – who has been working alongside Under-13s coach Jordan Williams – was pleased with his side’s performance.
“The topic we’ve been working on a lot is our attacking principles of play,” he said. “Specifically what we’ve been doing is working on when to retain, when to rebuild and then when to penetrate when you have possession.
“On Saturday we gave them some messages about speed of attack and when to maybe speed up their combinations in the final third.
“They took it on board really well and scored lots of goals as a result of it.”
