During their matches and throughout the day, this group of talented young players exemplified the Saints Southwest Values. They played with high Standards, giving their best effort and performance whilst respecting the opposition, referees and the game itself. Facing a strong Cardiff City team, the Under 9s aspired to improve their skills and teamwork, demonstrating creativity and adaptability in their approach. Throughout it all, they showed integrity and sportsmanship, understanding that as a part of football, the game transcends both wins and losses. As a united team, they supported each other on and off the pitch, showing a togetherness that personifies a Saints Southwest squad. Their skills shone through as they executed well-timed passes, tackles and plenty of goals, all with a determination to develop their individual skills.
Niall Carr, one of two coaches on the day said “Both Reegan and I have had the pleasure of working with most of these young players over the past couple of seasons and Saints Southwest are so proud of the development that the players have made in that time.”
“Every player represented Saints Southwest excellently and demonstrated the SAINTS values. It was a great opportunity for the group to experience a matchday within a football league academy environment and to test themselves against a strong opposition. Well done to everyone that was involved!”
The players all left Wales with smiles on their faces, having gained invaluable experiences that will shape their young footballing careers. This day will undoubtedly be a memory that the players will hold with them and a reminder of what can be achieved when they challenge themselves.
